At Planoplan, we are constantly working on improving render quality and analyzing user experience so that you can quickly evaluate designs, make edits, and create high-quality images for any purpose: from social media to professional presentations.

In this article, we will talk about the types of renders, their purpose, recent changes, and future plans. We will figure out how to choose the right quality for different tasks and how to get the maximum benefit from using Planoplan. After reading, you will learn how to quickly evaluate composition, lighting, and materials, and make adjustments to your project. You'll also discover which renders will be ideal for publishing on social media, on a website, for presentations on high-resolution monitors, creating a professional portfolio, and demonstrating to clients.

What renders are available in Planoplan and what are they for?

Planoplan renders are created to solve different tasks:

1
Preview: A fast and economical low-resolution render.

Ideal for preliminary evaluation of lighting, materials, and scene composition. It is not intended for the final presentation but allows for quick adjustments to the project. An excellent option for a quick scene assessment to save time and resources. Think of Preview as a draft — fast but not perfect.

2
FullHD: A render with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels.

Suitable for creating images for websites, social media, and presentations when maximum detail is not required. This is the golden mean between quality and cost. For demonstrating a project on the internet, FullHD is the optimal choice.

3
QHD: A render with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels.

Provides higher detail than FullHD. A good choice for printing small formats and viewing on high-resolution monitors.

Important: High resolution and render quality allow you to convey small details, textures, color gradients, and lighting, creating realistic and aesthetically appealing images. This enhances the professional impression, supports a positive brand image, and is important for presentations and portfolios.

4
4K: A render with a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels.

The maximum possible quality in Planoplan. Ideal for creating professional presentations, printing large formats, publishing in a portfolio, and demonstrating to clients. 4K allows you to convey the finest details and textures, creating realistic and impressive images.

What has changed in Planoplan renders?

  • July 1: Switched FullHD renders to a different calculation algorithm. This improved the quality and optimized the rendering process.
  • August 12: Fixed the resolution calculation algorithm for square renders (relevant for Preview and FullHD). They are now calculated at the correct resolution, which corresponds to the initially stated size.
  • October 1: At users' request, reverted Preview renders to their initial, slightly better quality, despite the lack of business justification.

We heard your wish to see clearer textures already on preview renders. Thank you for your feedback! At the same time, we recommend using the best render quality that Planoplan allows for your final work. This will help your projects speak of high skill and quality.

Why did the changes happen?

Our goal is to provide you with the highest quality and most convenient tool for visualizing your projects. We strive to ensure that Planoplan renders meet the highest standards and help you create impressive presentations for your clients.

To achieve this goal, we have implemented a number of changes to the rendering algorithms. These changes are aimed at:

  1. Eliminating render artifacts: We removed black spots under light fixtures and achieved more uniform light on walls and ceilings.
  2. More accurate lighting calculation: Improved the propagation of direct light and increased the accuracy of shadows where objects contact.
  3. Increasing rendering speed: Now you can get rendering results faster.

Head of Visualization Department

Implementing new rendering technologies and algorithms is a complex process that requires constant testing and refinement. We try to minimize the impact of changes on your work, but sometimes compromises are inevitable. We hope that the improvements in rendering quality and speed will compensate for any temporary inconveniences.

What's next? Future Plans.

We continue to work on improving the quality of Planoplan renders and have asked the Product Chief Officer, Pavel Lapitsky, to talk about the plans for the near future:

Improving reflections in mirrors and glass.

We are currently working on a combined rendering scheme that will deliver more realistic results.

Continuing the optimization of rendering algorithms.

We strive to make renders not only high-quality but also fast.

Developing the ability to adjust lighting and materials.

We want to give you more control over the visualization of your projects.

Pavel Lapitsky
Planoplan Chief Product Officer

Our goal is for you to be able to say with pride: "This was made in Planoplan". We work on this every day.

How to get the maximum benefit from Planoplan?

  1. Buy large render packs. This will allow you to save money and get more opportunities for visualizing your projects.
  2. Use the PRO+ tariff. Renders for PRO+ users have processing priority and cost 50% less. This is the most profitable way to use Planoplan for professional purposes.
  3. Choose the right render type. Use Preview for quick scene evaluation and 4K for final presentations. This will help you save resources and get the best result.

We are confident that with Planoplan, you can create impressive visualizations of your projects and achieve success in your work. Thank you for choosing Planoplan.
