Project Estimate
The project estimate in Planoplan is a tool for calculating the cost of an interior and managing the budget. It automatically gathers all project items (furniture, materials, decor), shows their quantity and price, and helps prepare data for purchasing or client approval.
The project estimate is located in the project gallery as a separate tab alongside renders, plans, and virtual tours.
How the project estimate is created
The project estimate is generated automatically when you add the first objects to a project. Items are calculated depending on their type:
- in pieces (e.g., sofas);
- in square meters (e.g., wallpapers);
- in linear meters (e.g., baseboards).
To update the project estimate, click the “Synchronize with project” button at the top. After that:
- new items are added;
- quantities and values are updated;
- the sync time is refreshed.
Project estimate structure
By default, the project estimate includes the following columns: “No.”, “Preview”, “Name”, “Article”, “Quantity”, “Price”, “Amount”, “Reference”, “Note”.
You can customize visible columns via the “gear” icon in the top right corner. These settings are saved when:
- sharing the estimate via link;
- exporting the project estimate to CSV.
Additional columns (dimensions and units) appear in the CSV file.
You can also select a currency in the top right corner of the project estimate. The selected currency is applied to all values and displayed in the “Price” and “Amount” columns, as well as in category totals.
Categories and item order
All items are grouped into categories (e.g., “Furniture”, “Decor”, “Lighting”, “Wall finishing”, etc.).
Categories are sorted by the number of items:
- top — categories with more items;
- bottom — with fewer items.
Within a category, you can reorder rows by dragging them using the handle (three lines). Moving rows between categories is not available.
Editing rows
You can edit any row:
- change preview image;
- edit name, article, quantity;
- change units (pcs, m², lm);
- set price per unit.
Edited rows are marked with a snowflake icon. Hovering over it shows a reset option.
The “Total” field is calculated automatically and cannot be edited.
Reference and note
In the “Reference” column, you can add a URL (e.g., https://planoplan.com). Use “https://” to ensure it works correctly.
When opened in a browser, the link becomes a “Go to website” button.
The “Note” column allows adding text or links. These values are preserved after synchronization.
Managing row visibility
You can hide a row using the “eye” icon. To show it again:
- enable “Show hidden items”;
- click the hidden eye icon.
You can also use the category dropdown to control which categories are visible in the project estimate.
You can add a new row using the “plus” button. Such rows can be edited but not hidden.
Synchronization
During synchronization:
- only unchanged rows are updated;
- deleted objects are removed;
- quantities are recalculated.
Manually edited rows (with the snowflake icon) are not overwritten.
Sharing and export
You can share the project estimate via a link. In browser view:
- editing is disabled;
- clicking a field copies its value.
If column settings change, generate a new link.
You can export the project estimate as a CSV file. Hidden rows and columns are excluded.
