Free transform

The Free transform tool allows you to create custom-shaped objects. It’s a versatile tool for building non-standard architectural elements, decorative constructions, or any figure that cannot be created using ready-made primitives.

You can find the Free transform in the catalog:
«Primitives» → «Objects»

Adding to the Plan

After adding the tool to your project, a shape outline and a rotation control appear in 2D mode — the Free transform edit mode is activated.
In this mode:

  • you cannot select or move other objects (furniture, walls, etc.);
  • you can adjust the shape by moving its vertices.

To exit edit mode:

  • press the Esc key;
  • or close the settings menu.

Settings

Once a Free transform is selected, its settings will appear in the right panel. These are divided into several blocks:

Main Block

  • To Favorites — adds the object to your Favorites.
  • Show in Catalog — displays detailed information about the object, including its catalog location.
  • Copy — creates a duplicate with all current settings in 2D and 3D. You can also use the shortcuts: Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V (on Mac — ⌘C / ⌘V).
  • Reset — cancels all changes made to the shape.
    • In 2D — resets the vertex positions.
    • In 3D — resets color, material, and texture.
  • Delete — removes the shape from the project.

Parameter Block

  • Height — sets the object’s height.
  • Rotation — rotates the shape horizontally.

Checkbox «Always Draw»

This additional option allows the outline of the shape to be visible in 2D mode even outside of edit mode.
By default, the outline is only visible while editing.

Editing the Shape

In 2D Mode

Shape editing is done by working with vertices:

  • move a vertex — click and drag with the left mouse button;
  • add a new vertex — hover over an edge and left-click.

If you add a vertex on a curved edge, it will turn into a straight line

  • create a curve — hover over an edge, press and hold the right mouse button, and drag in the desired direction. Release the button when the desired curve is reached;
  • delete a vertex — hover over a point and right-click;
  • reset curve — right-click on a curved edge.

In 3D Mode

You can’t modify the shape in 3D, but you can:

  • move the object;
  • duplicate it;
  • customize its appearance — color, material, texture.
