Uploading a Substrate
When starting work on a new project, it's important to accurately recreate the layout of the space. One of the most convenient ways to do this is by uploading a Substrate — an image of a floor plan (e.g., a measurement plan or hand-drawn sketch) that helps you build walls with precision.
What is a Substrate?
A substrate is an image of the room layout uploaded into the 2D workspace of the editor. You can trace over it to draw walls based on real measurements and the room’s configuration. This is especially helpful when working from on-site measurements.
How to open the substrate settings window
There are two ways to open the upload and settings window for the background:
- via the menu «Construction» → «Substrate»
- using the shortcut Shift + V

Uploading a substrate
To upload a background image, click the «Upload floor plan» button in the substrate window.
You have two upload options:
- From your computer — select a file in PNG, JPG, or JPEG format.
- By URL — paste the direct link to the image.
Supported formats — PNG, JPG, JPEG
Maximum file size — 10 MB

Substrate visibility settings
After uploading, you can control the visibility of the substrate:
Show / hide background — use the eye icon or press the V key

If no substrate is uploaded yet, but the visibility is turned on, a light rectangle will appear on the screen. This is a placeholder showing where the substrate will be displayed once uploaded.
Rotating the background
If the uploaded image is rotated incorrectly (e.g., 90° off), you can adjust it using the «Rotation» field by entering the correct angle.

Setting the correct scale
To ensure your plan matches real-world dimensions, you need to set the correct scale using the «Section» tool:
- Align the orange endpoints of the segment with a known object on the plan — for example, a doorway.
- Enter the real length of that object in the «Section size» field.
- The app will automatically adjust the scale of the substrate.
The longer the reference object you use for scaling, the more accurate the result will be.

Resetting the substrate
If the segment with orange points is not visible or the background is misaligned, click the «Reset» button. This will restore the background to its original position and re-center the segment.
