“Tags” are a tool for organizing your project in Planoplan. They work as universal layers and help you separate elements by task. For example, you can create several layout options, prepare electrical wiring plans, or develop a demolition scheme within a single project.

With tags, you can quickly hide and show groups of objects, assign multiple categories to a single object, and control scene visibility.

Managing Tags

To open the tag list, click the “Tag Management” button in the top menu (icon with 4 circles).

The app includes several default tags. You can:

  • rename a tag,
  • delete a tag,
  • change its color,
  • create a new tag.

To rename or delete a tag, hover over it. The “three dots” and “eye” icons will appear to the right of its name.

Click the “three dots” icon and choose the required action:

“Rename” — enter a new name and click the checkmark to confirm or move focus to another tag.

“Delete” — the tag will be removed.

To create a new tag, click the “Plus” button in the tag management panel. The number of tags you can create is unlimited. A new tag is automatically assigned a color, which you can change.

To change a tag’s color, click the colored circle next to its name and select a color in the Color picker editor.

You can undo adding, deleting, or renaming a tag using the standard undo command:

Ctrl + Z — on Windows,

cmd ⌘ + Z — on macOS.

Tag Visibility

Next to the “three dots” icon, there is an “eye” icon. When you click it, all objects with that tag are hidden from the scene.

This is useful if, for example, you are working on electrical wiring and want to temporarily hide furniture from “Layout option 1.” Simply hide the corresponding tag, and all objects assigned to it will disappear from the scene.

If a tag is hidden, the related objects appear in grey in the “Object List.”

If an object has multiple tags, you must hide all assigned tags to completely hide the object.

Active Tag

Any tag can be set as active. Click it in the list — it will be highlighted in blue. The button in the top menu (with 4 circles) will change and display the selected tag.

When a tag is active, it is automatically assigned to every new object you add to the project.

This is convenient when working on a specific section of a project, where all newly added elements should belong to the same group.

Assigning Tags to Objects

You can assign tags to all scene objects, including dimensions, polylines, and tables.

There are two ways to assign a tag:

  • via the “Object List”,
  • via the “Object Settings.”

Via the “Object List”

In the “Object List,” hover over the required object. The tag management button (icon with 4 circles) will appear on the left. Click it and select the required tags.

If an object already has tags, they are displayed as colored circles to the left of the object’s name.

An object can have any number of tags, but only previews of the three most recently assigned tags are displayed in the list and in the settings. To see the full list, click the tag assignment button — a panel with all assigned tags will open.

You can select multiple objects (hold Ctrl on Windows or cmd ⌘ on macOS) and assign the same tags to them through the selected objects settings.

You can also assign a tag to a group of objects. If a group has at least one visible tag, the group remains visible in the scene.

Via “Object Settings”

In the top section of “Object Settings,” there is a Tag Assignment button (icon with 4 circles). Clicking it opens the same menu as in the “Object List” and allows you to assign one or more tags to the selected object or group of objects.

Currently, tags are available in 2D and 3D modes, as well as when exporting a plan. In future updates, tag management will also be available in elevations, surface design, and when creating renders.

Summary of Tag Capabilities

  • Tags help you structure your project and drawings.
  • You can create an unlimited number of tags.
  • One object can have multiple tags.
  • You can hide and show groups of objects by tags.
  • An active tag is automatically assigned to new objects.

Tags simplify work on complex projects and allow you to maintain multiple options within a single file without duplication.
