The Planoplan team regularly works on app improvement — not only by adding new features but also by developing its usability and interface design. For almost a year, we have been updating the main catalog, and now it is available for testing and application for our beta-version users.

It is the largest catalog update in Planoplan history. We rebuilt it from scratch, taking into account the wishes of users.

Soon the updated catalog will be available for all users, and in this article, we will introduce you to all the coming changes in detail.

What's New?

Catalogue

We asked Pavel Lapitsky, a Planoplan Chief Product Officer to tell us what to expect in the updated catalog. Here is what he said:

1
Quick Navigation

Now items are placed into intuitive categories. So that you can find the model you need quickly even without using the Search option. The entire structure with nested sections is now available together with item profiles. You can quickly expand the whole structure by clicking only one button.

2
Large Previews

A large preview grid was added, which enables users to broaden output two times. In case you need more space in your working area, you can hide the section structure, leaving only the profiles.

3
Category State Preservation

You don't need to scroll the catalog again if you close it. The app will remember the directory, grid, size, and position of the output.

4
Tools At Hand

A new Constructions section contains everything you need to model the room: substrate upload, construction modes, room shapes, and basic models of doors and windows. Now you can do everything from one menu. A Designations section has the same options on the floor plan.

5
Customized Folder Structure

While uploading your content you are now not limited to a rigid folder structure. Add new folders with any number of nesting levels and move objects from folder to folder by simply dragging and dropping.

More 3D Models in the Catalog

You might have noticed that last month we were actively working with the catalog database. More than 500 new furniture items and over 100 new materials and textures were added. Global trends analysis in interior design and market research of the furniture, decorations, and finishing goods helped us to select the most fashionable items for our users.

We have recently added furniture models from Perozzo, Jaipur, B&B Italia, Bticino, Coedition, Lapalma, Vincent Sheppard. You can also find items from furniture collections of Bonaldo, Minotti, Ditre Italia, Flos, Baxter, Flexform, Dantone home, Poliform, IKEA, restoration hardware, BoConcept, Crate&Barrel and many others. Furniture manufacturers can place their 3D models in the catalog as well.

A Look From The Inside

We created the new catalog on the new platform which makes it easier to create complicated interfaces with multiple elements. Now you can find the models you need even easier and faster. The new catalog results from the work of a well-coordinated and strong team. The most difficult part was to define the final interface design and to find the most convenient and clear solution from the user's point of view.

Catalog update is an important event for us. A lot of work has been done, but in the end, I think we did an excellent job. A new catalog will be useful because users will be able to create cool designs faster and more conveniently.

The current update is the first step in a large-scale update of the Planoplan interface. We are looking forward to receiving feedback from the users of our beta.
